Purchased by Taylor’s Education Group in July 2011, NISS meets the educational needs of students from approximately 50 different countries. The school’s main constituency is expat families in Singapore, but it also accepts Singaporean students (subject to government approval) and Student Pass holders from a range of countries. Staff are recruited from Singapore, other national systems and international schools from around the world. Almost 20 different nationalities are represented.
The spacious 470,000 sq ft campus at 201 Ulu Pandan Road, just 2km from Holland Village, has excellent facilities to support all academic and co-curricular programmes for up to 1,200 students. These include swimming pools, gymnasiums, sports fields and recently renovated academic areas. NISS is committed to the integration of innovative learning technologies in the classroom and implemented a 1:1 Apple laptop scheme in the Secondary School in 2013. This was extended to Year 6 in 2014. The Primary School has a 1:2 ratio of MacBooks to learners and other technologies are integrated across the curriculum, including iPads and a range of the latest tools to aid learning.
NISS is an authorised International Baccalaureate (IB) World School for the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Diploma Programme (DP).  It is a member of the Council of International Schools (CIS), and an approved Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) Centre.  NISS is EduTrust certified and has been awarded  CIS/WASC accreditation.
NISS is a member of Taylor's Education Group and the second Nexus International School (NIS) campus in the region.  The first NIS is located in Putrajaya, Malaysia.

Assistant Accountant

Key Objectives Of The Position
The job-holder is responsible for the handling of payments, receipts, general ledger, reporting, and internal/external audit.
Role
Financial management
  • Ensure that accounting records are prepared and maintained in accordance with the Company’s accounting policies, accounting standards and accounting principles and practices.
  • Maintain Fixed Asset register which includes asset tagging and updating of fixed assets in a timely manner.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation, presentation and delivery of monthly and annual financial statements as per Accounting Policy requirements, expected standards and agreed deadlines/timeframes.
  • Prepare weekly & monthly cash flow statements
AP & AR management
  • Ensure payments to suppliers are made timely and schedules updated promptly.
  • Ensure that Account Receivable and Account Payable Sub Ledgers to General Ledger and the respective bank accounts to the bank statements are reconciled on a regular basis.
  • Review of Supplier Reconciliation statement in accordance with its stated and established time scales and standards.
  • Identify operational, financial and information system issues relating and actively seek improve on the workflow.
  • Assist in month-end closing.  
Administrative
  • Perform general office duties
  • Interact with internal and external auditors in completing audits
  • Keep abreast of changes in financial regulations and legislation
  • Submit regular financial reports to Finance Manager
  • Perform any other task as assigned by Line Manager/Senior Management
Organisational
  • Maintain effective working relations with bankers, auditors and other key external advisors/ parties.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with staff, customers and students

The Accountant reports to the Finance Manager. In addition the Accountant will develop and maintain effective working relationships with:

Personal Specification
Qualifications and Training
  • Minimum Bachelor degree qualification in Accounting/ACCA.
  • A CPA will be an advantage.
Experience
  • At least two (3) years of relevant working experience
  • At least one (1) year of relevant management experience
Knowledge and Understanding
  • Knowledge of finance accounting, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Knowledge of financial and accounting software applications. Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations
  • Ability to analyse financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
